Year-round
No pronounced peak. Schooling nearshore rockfish, good eating and available all year; what changes is the sea state for jetty and reef access, not the fish.
signal · Swell/sea state and tide (NOAA CO-OPS, NDBC buoys) for calm-water access (assumed)
Plate No. 049 · Finley & Bohlman
Managed, mind the rules
Oregon's nearshore black rockfish are in good shape under bag limits; the wider complex is not. Don't high-grade, and descend any constrained deep-reef fish you bring up by mistake.
The read
The nearshore staple: schooling black rockfish off every jetty and rocky point, good eating and reliable whenever the ocean lays down.
The event: Any calm-water day on rocky structure; fish the jetties and reefs on a low swell.
What we watch: live feeds
What informs Black Rockfish in particular. The shared feeds it reads (tides, weather, water temp) are the live feeds above.
